Air Audits

"Our audit was done to see where we were at and to see how we can improve our savings and air demands."

"The audit was very successful, it was proven to be about a 33% savings."

"When we were running the three hundred horse two stage compressor versus the two one fifties and a one hundred horse."

"As a result of that audit, it was determined that we could put a flow regulator system in our plant and that's where we're at right now."

"It was immediate that we cut our electrical rates in half."

"We have three 100 horses and we have a variable drive. And the variable drive saved us money because we operate some tests twenty four hours. So we have our high peaks and our lows. Why have a big one hundred horse unit running when you don't require that one hundred horse."

"Competition machines wouldn't hold up and we spent more time having them in trying to correct the situations than we did do with Sullair."

"Working on a quality compressor and selling a quality compressor is the best means to a gain as far as not only are you going to gain a customer, you're going to keep a customer by selling product that is going to last and preform the way they expect it to."

"It was determined that we could put a flow regulator system in our plant… maintain one hundred PSI with our current compressors and save more efficiency on the compressors."

"You don't have the constant turn on turn off, you can have constant air feed to the plant at 90 PSI with this flow regulator system."

"It trims off all of the spikes and creates an even flow of current."

"We could spend eight thousand dollars to get the proper flow valve that would match our system, and the pay back of that system would be made in 18 months and it would give us a consistent air flow to the shop floor."

"Our plan is that in the very near future to install a flow control system that would improve our air quality to the shop floor."

System Monitoring

"E-connect is a very valuable tool especially for management."

"It's very easy to use. All you do is click on it and it comes up. The system pressure and dryer pressure comes up automatically on the screen. The information will tell you what the system pressure is right now and what it's been for a twenty four hour period which is a nice thing to know."

"If the dryer starts to raise its humidity inside, you can see that by looking at the chart, if it goes to high, and if it goes to high, you get a fault on the dryer and if something happens with the compressor, then you'll get a fault on the compressor. But the nice thing is the flashing red light makes it pretty self evident that there's a problem…which is a nice thing, and you can react quickly to some of the things that happened over night."

"It tells you which is on standby, and which machine is loaded. It tells you which machine is working, and which is set for automatic switch over which is a nice function because if one machine would go down, and we didn't have automatic function we'd stop making steel."

"Now, its not a problem at all."

"We have Metro Air take care of all of our service needs."

"We look at our equipment and what we feel is good for it and we know the parts we get from Sullair match up with the quality equipment from what we've gotten from them."

"One of the ways they do that is by using quality air filters, quality oil filters, quality separators, quality internal components…you use a better air filter, it keeps the lubricant cleaner, if you use a better oil filter, it keeps the lubricant cleaner. The lubricant cleaner is going to make the machine last longer because you have less foreign contamination inside the unit. Whatever is ingested into it has to be filtered. So that's where we feel they're taking the right direction."

"…get flyers all the time, from outside companies that say they can provide oil for compressors parts for compressors and save hundreds and hundreds of dollars. To me that isn't worth the savings because of the quality of the original Sullair products and the prevention of down time. We virtually have no down time between maintenance intervals."

"We've been up there [Midland, MI] twenty one years, providing out sourced air, or air on a contract basis, to DOW Chemical. We just recently renewed the contract for ten years of service."

"The station was designed because the compressed air is so critical to DOW's application. If they shut down they will literally lose millions of dollars at a time because of their processes."

"Everything has a 100% backup on it."

"Actually in the last ten years, have not had an interrupted shut down with DOW. They're very satisfied up there. They recognize the service we provide up there as being very outstanding."

"It's a pretty sophisticated operation. The majority of the major pieces of machinery are monitored by computers, we monitor constantly for vibration we're monitoring the output of the station, dew point and quality of the compressed air that we're providing."

"If a customer has the ability to out source the air, then he's using it strictly as a utility. He doesn't have to worry about maintaining the machines, maintaining the dryer filtration, he's getting what he really wants, which is clean, dry and compressed air."

"If you were to talk to the customer, they'd say it's very cost effective. They know what it was costing them to maintain their compressed air system by having us take over that responsibility, they've been able to utilize their maintenance expertise in the other areas of the plant and that really freed them up to concentrate on what they needed to."
