Master and commander. The MEC is a control unit that matches compressor operation to plant demand, as determined by the preset pressure level required by the compressed air system demand.
This is how we do it. In a four compressor system if three compressors are holding a line pressure of 100 psi, and increased demand causes pressure to drop below 90 psi, the MEC automatically turns on the fourth compressor. The first three compressors run at full capacity; the fourth modulates to act as a trim machine.
